Visualisation for Success

Spend a few minutes a day to optimise success.

As crazy as it may sound to some of you, visualisation can help you succeed your bigger goals. Spend a few minutes of the day, maybe when you are lying in bed at night, visualising what you look like at your goal weight. Imagine how good you will feel at your ideal weight. What are you wearing? How are you feeling? What are you doing? It may sound mad, but this helps retrain your brain into slim and fit mode. The more you visualise yourself as your ideal self the more likely you are to make daily positive decisions to get there.

Your mind can’t tell the difference between the reality and the imagined version of yourself. So, if the story you are telling yourself is that you are heavy or unfit, that is what the mind believes. However, if you switch the story to tell yourself, that you are grateful for your body, you feel fitter every day, you feel lighter every day, you eat only healthy food etc, your brain is going to help you achieve that.

Visualisation is an effective and free tool in the weight loss arsenal. Attaching emotion to your visualisations will dramatically amplify the affect. Fit it into your day like you would your workout routine. If this is a new practice to you it may take a while to get the hang of it but stick to it and you’ll surprise yourself. It is just like a new diet plan or workout, practice makes perfect. You can also find guided meditations on YouTube that can help you. I think the guided meditations are good, as I find it hard to quieten my mind and I find when I have someone’s voice to concentrate on it makes it easier to visualise.

Taking part in any transformation challenge, whether you are flying solo or part of a group, engages the mind for the most part. From the decision to make a change, to the daily decisions of what to eat, when to workout. Using mind over matter when you are put in temptations way to be able to say no, so why not try visualisation to use your mind as a weapon of success.

I wish you all a successful week!
